May 20th, 2025
Sandia Prep engineering and computer science teacher Arren Buck ’04 has been honored as an outstanding educator by the national nonprofit Engineering for Us All (e4usa).
Buck was named the “Most Reflective e4usa Teacher” as part of the organization’s Excellence 4 Us ALL Awards.
“This award reflects the outstanding growth, reflection, and leadership that Arren has brought to the e4usa community this year,” Andrew Green, Director of Partnership Programs and Director of Communications for e4usa, said in a news release.
Buck teaches Prep’s Engineering 4 US course for juniors and seniors, a dual credit course with the University of New Mexico, a first-of-its-kind, national initiative designed to introduce engineering design principles to a new generation of students. The curriculum incorporates an authentic, design-based experience and affords students the opportunity to earn college credit at participating colleges and universities.
Buck’s students have collaborated with Shining Stars Preschool in Rio Rancho for six years to design and create equipment for its special needs youngsters. They’ve also worked with the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
“We’re deeply grateful for your school’s commitment to e4usa and the incredible work your team does to advance engineering education,” Green added. “We look forward to a continued partnership in the years ahead.”
E4usa students explore engineering in society, develop professional skills, and engage in community-focused engineering design experiences, according to their website. By empowering a new generation of engineers, e4usa aims to create a workforce equipped to drive breakthrough innovations and solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.
Buck, a Prep alum, has taught at Prep since 2016.
