Border Immersion Experience for Educators and Community Members

June 1 - 5 plus travel days
Limited to eight participants*
Ages: 18+
Cost: $1,500

The Prep Collective invites you to a Border Immersion Experience in El Paso, Texas, with Sandia Prep's Modern Languages Department Chair Claudio Pérez. The program is for adults 18 and up.

Cristo Rey's Border Immersion Program offers a unique perspective on border issues, emphasizing empathy and understanding. The goal is to recognize and celebrate the diversity of communities while acknowledging their interconnectedness with all people.

Throughout this reciprocal learning program, participants will visit the border region in El Paso and Juárez, Mexico. They will engage in meaningful conversations with individuals affected by border policies, including visits to shelters to speak with family members. There also will be opportunities to share meals with refugees and to dialogue with social workers, immigration officers and other community members to gain a comprehensive perspective on immigration issues.

These immersive engagements will help participants better understand their shared humanity and strengthen relationships with neighbors as they work toward greater empathy and solidarity in confronting the barriers communities face along the border.

* If the trip fills up, a waiting list will be started. If at least five additional people want to go, another group will be added.
