I'm inclined to stay within the box of my experience which is comforting, predictable and boring at times. When I opt for change and try something new, I expand in new directions and feel joy in the stretch. I love that!

What's your secret skill or something people might be surprised to learn about you?
Making soup! I enjoy cooking, but more than that,  repurposing all the leftovers in the fridge into a healthy meal everyone will eat. I make some mean soup.

How do you like to spend your downtime?
Going to the cabin and getting lost in the woods! on foot, with dogs, on bike, or on skis. I also love to read, run, play piano, and work on my yoga practice.

What do you enjoy most about Sandia Prep?
I love the diversity in education and experience that Sandia Prep offers. I think it helps students hone their strengths and interests so they are better prepared to hit the ground running after high school!

Anything else you would like to add?
l recently retired from the US Forest Service as a wildland fire analyst and spent 20+ years providing fire behavior modeling and strategic decision support to fire managers nationally. I still support fires in this capacity when the need arises, but my primary gig now is helping out in the Sandia Prep library as a library assistant. Just as rewarding but a lot less stress. It's a great place to spend a few hours each week and get to know the students.
