Adalyn '26 was selected from over 1,000 applicants to model for the Varsity Spirit Fashion Catalog in Dallas this past fall. 📸 Varsity, a leading provider of dance and cheerleading uniforms and accessories for high school and college teams nationwide, released the catalog in December, now available online at Varsity.com. 🎉 What an incredible opportunity!
Sandia Prep is seeking a dynamic, talented educator to join our team as a full-time Mathematics teacher beginning August 1, 2025. This qualified individual will teach 7th grade Pre-Algebra, an Upper School Mathematics class from Geometry to Pre-Calculus, and be an advisor as well as be involved in the school’s robust extracurricular program. During the organic chemistry unit, Chemistry 2 students in Amy James’s class have been making soap 🧼 using saponification—a process that converts fats, oils, or lipids into soap by reacting them with sodium hydroxide. The students developed their own lab procedures, and in this photo, you can see their soap aging in the molds as it transitions from its initially basic state—all while the students clearly enjoy the process! 😄

Math teacher JennyLou Pangilinan-Riel led our middle school robotics students to the AFRL (Air Force Research Laboratory) Tech Mission workshop, where they collaborated in teams to explore the fundamentals of robotics and coding. 🤖 Our students did an outstanding job completing this three-day challenge! 🚀

Last week, sixth graders dove into exciting Project-Based Learning projects! 🎉 One group raised $507 for Animal Protection New Mexico by preparing breakfast burritos and spreading awareness in their community. Another group tackled waste management by organizing a clothing swap and sharing baked goods with participants. 🌱 Amazing work, everyone!
Camila '25 has officially committed to Portland State University for Track and Field! 🎉 She will join the Vikings, competing at the NCAA Division 1 level in the Big Sky Conference. As a freshman, she placed 5th in State (3A) for the 100 Hurdles and 3rd in State (3A) for the 300 Hurdles. In her sophomore year, she improved to 3rd in State (3A) for the 100 Hurdles and 2nd in State (3A) for the 300 Hurdles. During her junior year in cross country, she placed 11th at State, and hopes to improve on all her times this year. Congratulations!

This winter, Hannah '26 performed at Carnegie Weill Hall in New York City alongside her brother. She earned grand prizes for both her individual performance and a duet with her brother at the Brooklyn Music Teachers' Guild 6th Intercontinental Music Competition. They performed with an orchestra conducted by Maestro Camilo Rojas and had the opportunity to speak with composer Alexander Peskanov. What an incredible accomplishment in such a prestigious concert hall!
Sandia Prep welcomed two transformative New Mexico leaders, including proud Unicorn alum City Councilor Brook Bassan, Class of '98 and current Albuquerque City Council President. Joining her was NM House Majority Whip Dayan Hochman-Vigil. The two met with Sandia Prep's student-led activity , Median Makers, dedicated to transforming nearby medians into vibrant green spaces. They shared insights on their careers, local government roles, and the importance of bipartisan collaboration.

Gabe '27, Auggie '26, Josiah '26, and Avery '27 represented Sandia Prep at the New Mexico Music Educators Association (NMMEA) All-State Festival. As part of the festival’s guitar ensemble, they joined 72 of the state’s most talented high school guitarists.

Welcome back, students! Before the Spring 2025 semester begins, let’s look back at our eighth graders' action-packed finals week. They explored the state capitol, bonded over ice-skating, visited literacy buddies at Los Ranchos, and crafted winter projects. The week ended with a screening of Out of My Mind and an adaptive sports activity led by disability educator Travis Davis—plus their math and science finals! A week full of learning, connection, and impact!
