Prep Student Films Compete in NM Festival
April 17th, 2024
Three Sandia Prep student films are competing in the Film Prize Junior New Mexico film festival. The films -- Digital Mirage by Abby Kronberg '25, Projections by Liam Bazan '25 and Sandro Bazan '25, and The Sound of Musical by Uriah Armendariz '25 -- were produced in the Advanced Digital Film Class. These films are now part of the Film Prize Jr. virtual festival and can be voted on by the public.
They are up against over 100 high school films from around the state. Please visit the Film Prize Jr. New Mexico website to view all entries and cast a vote for our Prep entries. You only have to watch three films to be eligible to vote. There is a link to the ballot and instructions for voting on the web page.
Film Prize Junior New Mexico is a new initiative from the creators of the award-winning Louisiana Film Prize and Film Prize Junior Louisiana in partnership with the Stagecoach Foundation. Film Prize Junior is a student short film competition for middle and high school students across the state of New Mexico.
For the competition, educators and students work together to create a concept, write a story, and produce and edit a short film with help from the organization's team members and film mentors. If an entrant makes it through the competition, Film Prize Junior New Mexico showcases their short film at its festival. In addition, entries can qualify for prizes, including equipment grants for the schools, scholarships for the students, and cash rewards for the educators.
