Our future starts today
Looking toward our transformative strategic vision
Dear Sandia Prep Community,
At Sandia Prep, our strength lies in the bonds that form our close-knit community. These relationships, meticulously nurtured among students and adults alike, serve as the bedrock for academic, athletic, and artistic triumphs. Research affirms what we already know — that our students thrive today and impact the future when connected to a supportive community.
Gifts made to Sandia Prep have empowered us to embark on a transformative journey. In my first year as the Head of School, conversations with faculty, trustees, families, and, crucially, students laid the groundwork for our Vision and Strategy team. Comprising administrators, trustees, faculty, and students, this team delved into a strategic visioning process, charting priorities that position Sandia Prep as an educational pioneer. Our focus is on demonstrating a direct link between relationships and academic and personal success, ensuring students are fully prepared for their future by feeling deeply connected to their community.
As we unveil our upcoming strategic plan, these priorities will equip our students with the tools to navigate challenges and create joyful moments. While our rich history has always prepared students for success at renowned institutions, our emphasis now lies in fostering daily thriving experiences — authentic learning, meaningful connections, and inspiring spaces.
This moment marks an exciting chapter in Sandia Prep’s legacy. Our vision builds upon our storied past and promises to shape the present and future for generations to come. Join us on this remarkable journey as we unfold our strategic plan and set the stage for a future where every student thrives.
Sincerely,
Heather B. Mock
Head of School

The endowment effect
Fueling innovation, excellence, and resilience
The value of Sandia Prep’s endowment was $9,116,970 at the end of fiscal year 2023. As opposed to annual gifts, which cover annual operating expenses, endowed funds provide long-term income to assist with all of Sandia Prep’s needs. Since only the income from the principal is spent, endowed funds provide resources for Sandia Prep in perpetuity. Endowed funds can be established for a specified purpose, or as unrestricted funds to meet the greatest needs of the School.
