Learn about ancient myths and tales from a variety of world cultures that were created to explain the everyday mysteries of our natural world. Stories from Africa, Scandinavia, Great Britain, the Americas, Asia, and Europe are represented. The focus will be to compare and find similarities between these tales of wonder. Some materials include scary PG-13 content.

NightScares: Horror Writing

Students will explore a variety of books and films, some with scary content, that present horrific and suspenseful situations born from creative minds. The focus will be to spark each student’s imagination and to teach the steps for creating and writing their own original works of mystery and horror. Emphasis is on the influence of Edgar Allen Poe on the genre through his life, stories, and films based on his work. Some materials may include scary PG-13 content.
